Antonio Little was a Program Coordinator for Community Outreach YMCA. Prior to his passing in the summer of 2015, his passion was in mentoring youth, helping them achieve success in school and inspiring them to give back to the community. The YMCA will honor Little’s legacy with the Antonio Little Teen Leadership Award.

“Antonio’s passing left a hole in our organization – especially among our RAISE and Achievers teens,” said Mike Brown, CEO and President, YMCA of Rock River Valley. “We wanted a way to honor Antonio’s work while giving youth an opportunity to further their education and achieve their goals.”

The YMCA announced a $5,000 donation to set-up the scholarship fund. Little was a member of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity at Northern Illinois University. Members of the undergraduate chapters of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated across the state of Maryland attended the announcement and made a $300 donation to the fund in his memory.

The Antonio Little Teen Leadership Award will become an annual $1,000 scholarship award. The first award will be presented on March 10, 2016 at the YMCA Community Dinner. The winner will be under the age of 19 who has exemplified leadership within the Rockford community and is planning to attend college.

The nomination process will be announced in January 2016.
