We are excited to announce the donation of our new facility from Mr. Sunil Puri and his partner Dan Arnold. The generous donation is valued at $2.25 million. The Puri Family YMCA will be located at 1475 South Perryville Road.

The 15,500 square foot facility will offer many of the same amenities as our existing YMCA locations. Our programs will focus on healthy living, youth development and social responsibility. We will offer a cardio and weight training room, unlimited fitness classes, personal trainers and wellness coaches, access to FitPath health tracker, senior social clubs, youth sports, at-risk youth programs and Childwatch services. Additionally, we will offer our Open Doors financial assistance program.

“The YMCA of Rock River Valley is positioned to serve the region more than ever before,” said Mike Brown, CEO, YMCA Of Rock River Valley. “We recognized a need for our services in southeast Rockford and Cherry Valley. Mr. Puri is helping make our vision a reality. We are bringing the Y closer to home for many residents, which allows us to further strengthen the community.”

“As the father of three children, I know the importance of family time,” said Puri, Founder and President, First Midwest Group. “The YMCA has an excellent track record for supporting the minds, bodies and spirits of young people and especially families in an affordable, safe environment, so this was an easy decision for me. I am especially pleased because the new facility is very close to a growing community of young families who are most able to benefit from the Y’s unique, holistic programs.”

Founded in 1858, the YMCA of Rock River Valley is one of the region’s oldest community organizations, which serves over 48,000 people through programs and services that strengthen the mind, body and spirit. Since the construction of our first modern facility in 1964, the Y has grown immensely through the years. In addition to the establishment of six unique branches, the Y has developed several partnerships with other organizations and school districts.
The Puri Family YMCA will undergo some renovations and is expected to open in the first quarter of 2016.
