YMCA Stingrays State Champions

Congratulations to the YMCA Stingrays Swim Team for their showing at the Illinois YMCA State Swimming Championships! Three swimmers from the YMCA of Rock River Valley Stingrays became state champions in 7 events at the Illinois YMCA State Swimming Championships, March 19-20 at Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana.

The Stingrays’ 2016 state champions are:
Molly Ryan (Female 10&Under) - 50 yd. backstroke 
Camden Taylor (Male 10&Under) - 50 yd. freestyle, 100 yd. freestyle, 50 yd. backstroke, and 50 yd. butterfly
Tyler Pidde (Male 21&Under) - 500 yd. freestyle and 200 yd. breaststroke.

Pidde also set a new state record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:10.69. Nine Stingrays medaled in the top 10 in individual events: Leah Boccignone, Nhia Caras, Victoria Dolan, Rachel Gander, Zain Miles, Tyler Pidde, Ella Roxworthy, Molly Ryan, and Camden Taylor. Additionally, 10 Stingray relay teams medaled in the top 10.  

Overall, the Stingrays placed 9th out of 21 “large teams” with a combined score of 1,100.50 points.
