Head of the Rock Regatta Sets Record

The 2016 YMCA Head of the Rock Regatta sets a new participation record. The 31st annual rowing race was held Sunday, October 9 on the Rock River. A record 624 boats competed from 51 teams from across the Midwest. It is estimated that spectators grew from 5,000 on average in the past to roughly 6,000 this year. The Head of the Rock Regatta is hosted by the YMCA Rowing Crew. The race begins at Martin Park and ends 5,000 meters or 3.2 miles later at the YMCA Log Lodge. 

The Community Challenge took place on Saturday with five boats competing including YMCA staff, WREX-TV, Prairie Street Brewhouse, Aspire Financial Group and UTAS. Congratulations to team WREX - news anchor Sean Musserallo, reporter Mary Sugden and sports director Derek Bayne.
