Michael Jr. to Headline 2017 YMCA Community Dinner
The YMCA of Rock River Valley is excited to announce comedian Michael Jr. will be the headlining entertainer at its annual Community Dinner on March 16, 2017. He has performed on some of comedy's biggest stages and all over TV including “The Tonight Show,” “Comedy Central,” “The Late, Late Show,” “Jimmy Kimmel” and many more. Michael Jr. prides himself on being a “clean” comedian and putting on family-friendly shows.
Hailed as one of today’s most gifted comedians, Michael's versatility puts him in high demand at major universities such as Notre Dame, churches, corporate events and youth rallies. His broad appeal has enabled him to author a children's book – “The Parts We Play,” and to be featured in the wildly successful comedy DVD “Thou Shalt Laugh.” He made his directorial debut with the documentary “Comedy: The Road Less Traveled.”
In his video “Be the Punchline,” Michael talks about the moment his career changed when he had a realization that he believes others can benefit from. He said, “if people could stop asking the question, ‘What can I get for myself?’ and start asking, ‘What can I give from myself?’ – I think people will learn that you don’t have to be a comedian to deliver a punch line.”
The YMCA is excited to bring Michael Jr. to Rockford and believe it will be a night of inspiration, laughter and removing barriers.
“Our mission is to help people build a healthy spirit, mind and body. What better medicine than laughter,” said Mike Brown, CEO and President, YMCA of Rock River Valley. “As we work to strengthen our community and break down barriers, we hope our event will provide an opportunity find common ground through humor.”
The YMCA Community Dinner will be held March 16, 2017 at Giovanni’s from 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets are on sale now. Sponsorship opportunities are available. To learn more, visit www.ymcacommunitydinner.com.
