The Y’s Little Learners and Little Campers program at the Northeast Family YMCA engages pre-K children aged 3-5 in age appropriate curriculum. Our educators meet high quality standards and lead your little learner on a journey of self-discovery. Routine:

We follow a daily schedule with time for self-discovery, socialization, and small gross motor development. The YMCA Early Childhood Curriculum; includes weekly themes and offers a variety of Pre-K activities to prepare your child for life endeavors and school readiness.  

Curriculum:

Pre-K Children will have the opportunity to take part in a YMCA Early Childhood Curriculum and full day childcare. A comprehensive curriculum model will address areas of development such as; approaches to learning, social and emotional development, physical development and health, language, literacy, and communication, mathematics, creative arts, science and technology, music and movement and social skills opportunities.  

Activities:

Child-initiated activities will foster and contribute to the development of an individual's sense of personal and social responsibility. Children will learn through direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, events, and ideas. This experience will enhance each child's growth in the foundations of academics as well as in social-emotional, physical, and creative areas.

Classroom:

Children will be part of a classroom setting divided into interest areas stocked with a stimulating range of materials designed for specific types of play, for example, family living area, creative art area, building and block area, small toy area, reading and writing area, music and movement area, puzzle and games area, outside large play area, math area and science exploration.
