YMCA Announces New Board of Directors Members

The YMCA of Rock River Valley has expanded its board of directors with four new members.  Pastor James Fambro, Cheryl Floyd, Carol Friesen and John Rose. Each will serve a three-year term, assisting the 18-member board with the strategic oversight of the YMCA of Rock River Valley in achieving its mission of building a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Pastor James Fambro is one of the founding pastors of Christian Growth Center, a multicultural, nondenominational church located in Rockford, IL. He graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. Additionally, he earned a Master’s of Divinity from Liberty University Theological Seminary School in Lynchburg, Va. He and his wife Lisa have three sons Elias, Joel and David. 

Chery Floyd is the Director of the Center for Health Promotion and Wellness at Winnebago County Health Department. She has been employed at the health department for 24 years.

Carol Friesen, FHFMA, serves as the chief executive officer for the Northern Region of OSF HealthCare. Carol has more than 25 years of health care leadership experience. Carol oversees operations and relationships of all OSF HealthCare hospitals and clinics in Escanaba, Michigan, as well as those located in Mendota, Streator, Ottawa and the greater Rockford area of Illinois.

John Rose is Vice President of CoyleKiley Insurance Agency.  With deep roots in Rockford, John’s community involvement includes coaching youth sports, managing charity golf outings, and volunteering time at several local non-profit organizations. 

The YMCA would like to express sincere gratitude to the following board members whose terms expired. Rick Engen, Joe Bruscato, Leslie West and Jim Zuba all served three consecutive 3-year terms. Additionally, J. Hanley served two 3-year terms on the board of directors and Tom Sandquist served one term.
