The YMCA of Rock River Valley Retired Men’s Club (RMC) presents $6,000 in grants to the Y and an additional $10,000 donation to the 2018 annual campaign.
A portion of the funds was raised at the RMC annual Christmas Tree Sale at Highcrest Shopping Center, which started in 1951.
“We are so pleased the community continues to support our Club and the YMCA through our annual Christmas tree sale,” said Fred Pelley, President, YMCA Retired Men’s Club. “We are blessed to see the dollars put into action helping youth and families in our community.”
YMCA staff members made presentations to the RMC to seek grant funds for various projects or needs. In 2018, the RMC has chosen to support the Intern Challenge, a new AED at the Rowing Crew Boathouse, wellness equipment at I.D. Pennock Family YMCA, CPR training equipment, new equipment for youth and teens, an indoor tree house at the Northeast Family YMCA, landscaping at Camp Winnebago, GED graduation party, Achievers college tour, YMCA Heritage Run, and a raised garden at the Puri Family YMCA among other items.
The RMC has been in existence since 1962 with a primary objective of raising funds and supporting YMCA youth programs through the selling of Christmas trees, pancake breakfasts and other events. This group of dedicated and philanthropic men raises $16,000 annually to donate to the Y.
The RMC meets every Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the YMCA Log Lodge. Click here
