YMCA Youth Programs Given $16,000 Donation

The YMCA of Rock River Valley Retired Men’s Club donated $16,000 toward YMCA programs for youth and families.  The men donate the money they raise at their annual Christmas Tree Sale.

“The tree sale is one of the more festive fundraisers that we have and it has become a strong tradition in our community,” said Kim Lape, RMC Club Administrator, YMCA of Rock River Valley. “We believe the community makes an effort to purchase their trees from the Retired Men’s Club because they know those dollars will have a direct impact on so many people.”

This year, funding has been allotted to a variety of YMCA programs, including basketball hoops for Camp Winnebago, a new boat motor for The YMCA Rowing Club, start-up funding for a raised garden at the Puri Family YMCA and money to refurbish the YMCA Log Lodge Entrance. A generous donation was also made to the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, which provides financial assistance for membership, camp, youth leadership, academic enrichment, high school completion programs and much more.

There are 150 members of the YMCA Retired Men’s Club, whose purpose is to benefit youth programs of the YMCA and to provide education and entertainment for area retirees. RMC meets weekly at the YMCA Log Lodge and offers a variety of club activities. Click here to learn more about the RMC.
