YMCA Unveils Renovated Wellness Center

The YMCA of Rock River Valley has reopened a state-of-the-art wellness center at the Northeast Family YMCA following a two-week renovation. The Y invested more than $350,000 to transform the 5,400 square-foot space.

Members will find all new cardio machines, strength training machines and free weights. The Y also added a unique feature to the middle of the floor - a Syngry360 unit that allows for functional training. The system provides a hub of motivational energy with limitless options to mix-up your workout. Additionally, an artificial turf floor was installed for sled pushes and pulls.

“We have a diverse audience using our wellness center and we love that,” said Melissa Burns, Executive Director, Northeast Family YMCA. “We wanted to provide a space that meets everyone’s needs. If you’re a beginner, we have options for you; or, if your workouts are more intense and you want to take your fitness to the next level, we can challenge you, too.”

The Northeast Family YMCA opened in 2007. The wellness center has gotten new equipment over the years, but has never undergone a massive renovation.

“This space was showing its age and we wanted to bring the energy back,” said Burns. “We hope the upgraded wellness center provides our members with motivation and inspiration to pursue a healthy spirit, mind and body. And, for those community members who haven’t been to the Y for a while, we invite you for a tour.”

About 500 members use the Northeast Family YMCA each day. We expect that number to grow with the upgraded wellness center.
