Healthy Kids Day

Do you have the ingredients for a healthy kid? The Y does! Join us for a month of Healthy Kids Day fun.

Discover the key ingredients to making every kid a *healthy* kid during our month of Healthy Kids Day fun. Instead of one day, we're extending our season and launching into spring training.

The recipe for a healthy kid includes:

  1. A tummy full of healthy food to keep their bodies fueled and focused!

  2. A cup of physical activity.

  3. A tablespoon of laughter.

  4. A pinch of curiosity.

  5. And, a dash of fun.

Join us for spring training April 1-22. Simply click the button below to register each child between the ages of 3 -12. Download the activity tracker sheet and then follow along to round the bases. Fill out the survey at the end for three chances to win!

Healthy Kids Day Spring Training

Round the Bases & Win!

1st Base - Spirit

Complete at least 3 of the following physical activities in week 1 (April 1 - 8) to round first base.
  • Do a chore without anyone asking. Help sweep,mop and/or vacuum all the floors in your house. Make it fun by putting on your favorite music! 
  • Take time to sit and relax. (15 min)
  • Create a memento of yourself.
  • Do a simple yoga session for 15 min. (i.e. cat/cow, starfish, warrior, tree, downward dog)
  • Compliment someone at least once a day for at least 5 days in a row.
  • Invite a parent to accompany you on a walk in your neighborhood.
  • Help an elderly neighbor or a family member with yard work for 1 hour.
  • Help clean a park by picking up trash. Be sure to wear protective gloves and only adults should pick up anything unknown or sharp objects like broken glass. 
  • Donate old toys you no longer play with or clothes you have outgrown.

2nd Base - Mind

Complete at least 3 of the following physical activities in week 2 (April 9 - April 15) to round second base.
  • Grab your favorite book and read for 20 minutes each day this week.
  • Research a hobby and try it this week.
  • Find a fun fact about your favorite sport and share it with your parent.
  • Make/cook a meal as a family one night this week.
  • Ask a friend about their favorite memory of something you did together.
  • Perform a Science experiment with a parent.
  • Try a new exercise you have not done before.
  • Learn a short poem or song and perform it for your family.
  • Make your bed every morning this week.

3rd Base - Body

Complete at least 3 of the following physical activities in week 3 (April 16 - April 22) to round third base.

  • Play jump the brook (i.e. see how far you can leap 10 times in a row).
  • Ride your bike for at least an hour. Don’t forget the helmet and other safety gear! 
  • Complete 20 body squats a day for 3 days in a row.
  • See how long you can hula-hoop without stopping (i.e. ask a parent to time you).
  • Hold a plank a 30 seconds.
  • Beat your own best time in walking or running one mile. Time yourself at the beginning and end of the week to see your progress.
  • Do 20 jumping jacks on day one, then add 10 more each day. (i.e. Day 2 = 30, Day 3 = 40, etc)
  • Practice your favorite sport for 30 minutes.
  • Complete 20 burpees a day for 3 days in a row.

Home Plate - Finish Strong & Win!

You're sliding into home, but you have one more step to be entered in the drawing to win one of three prizes. Each child must complete a survey by Thursday, April 22. The drawing will take place Friday, April 23. The survey will be emailed to each registrant.
