Planned Giving
Strengthen our community with a future gift through your estate plan or will.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
The YMCA is uniquely suited to meet our community’s health and well-being needs, every day.
Leaving Your Legacy
The Y relies on the generosity of our community to fulfill its mission “to put Christian principles into practice through programs, services, and relationships that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.” Whether subsidizing membership for families in need or raising funds to build or update facilities, the YMCA has been a cornerstone of the philanthropic world for more than 100 years. Building on this legacy of giving, the YMCA of Rock River Valley recognizes our forward-thinking friends who have remembered the Y in their estate plans to ensure a future of philanthropy and support in our community.
YMCA Heritage Club
The Heritage Club’s main purpose is to thank and honor our thoughtful donors during their lives while encouraging others to follow their lead. We aim to:
- Thank and recognize those who have remembered the Y in their estate plans in order to advance our values of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
- Honor those whose planned gifts might go otherwise unrecognized while the donor is still living because we are unaware of the gift.
- Encourage others to support the work of the Y through their estate plans.
- Provide special opportunities for members to learn more about the Y through involvement in special events.
While the greatest benefit of membership is knowing your forward-thinking gift creates the promise of the Y for future generations, we also offer the following benefits:
- Recognition in the Heritage Club (with your permission), including a listing in the YMCA of Rock River Valley’s annual report.
- Invitations to special events hosted by the YMCA of Rock River Valley, including an invitation to an annual donor reception hosted by our CEO.
- Opportunities for personal tours of our facilities and branches.
Anyone who has made arrangements for a planned gift to the YMCA of Rock River Valley is welcome to join the Heritage Club. We request that you inform us, in writing, that the YMCA of Rock River Valley has been named in your estate plan. Should you choose, your legacy gift can be made anonymously. You qualify for membership if you have made a gift such as:
- A bequest in a will or trust to the YMCA of Rock River Valley
- Naming the YMCA of Rock River Valley as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, IRA, or other retirement plan
- Creating a gift such as a charitable gift annuity that will ultimately benefit the YMCA of Rock River Valley; or
Making another qualifying gift
Many people create their estate plans and then never look at them again. We encourage you to regularly revisit your plan and consider your options for charitable giving alongside your plans to care for loved ones. The simplest of all the options is to create a bequest in your will or trust. You can do that by stating:
- A specific dollar amount
- A percentage of your estate
- A specific asset you’d like to donate
- The residue of your estate
