Students in grades K-12 can ride for free, as well as individuals pursuing post-secondary education in Rockford. This includes those enrolled in GED programs, two-year colleges, or four-year universities. High school and college students must present a school ID to the bus driver. If a student does not have a school ID, they can get a RMTD Student ID for just $2.

Veterans can ride for free on the RMTD fixed route with a valid RMTD Veterans Photo ID. Senior citizens age 65 and older may ride for free if they have an RMTD photo ID card. The cost for the ID cards is $5.
