Motivation, Accountability and Determination
At the YMCA, we know that not every person is motivated by the same things. Having a supportive group of like-minded friends helps you achieve goals you never thought possible. And you can find them here! Our health initiatives programs and workshops are held throughout the year. They focus on different areas of health needs, multiple types of workouts, and nutrition. You’re not in this alone! Find your motivation at the Y!
Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program
The Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program (BPSM) supports adults with hypertension in lowering and managing their blood pressure. BPSM is an investment in your health and a commitment to reducing your risk for heart attack or stroke through reduction in blood pressure, increased awareness of triggers that elevate blood pressure levels, and strategies for developing healthier eating habits and controlling blood pressure through diet.
Participants:
- Measure and record their blood pressure at least two times per month
- Attend monthly Nutrition Education Seminars
- Receive assistance from a trained Healthy Heart Ambassador (HHA)
- Attend two personalized consultations per month with their HHA.

Eat Well, Be Well: A 6-Week Whole Foods Challenge.
Can your nutrition use a refresh? If so, do we have a challenge for you! Feed your body right with 6 weeks of real food. Nope, not restrictive. This challenge shows you the wide range of delicious whole foods you could be eating. Ready to ditch those ingredients you can’t pronounce? Let’s do it together!
Nutrition Counseling
Schedule a session with our registered dietician to get personalized guidance to help you make dietary choices that align with your health goals and medical needs. We will focus on factors like nutrient intake, portion control and meal planning. The initial consultation is one hour. Follow-up 30-minute visits can be scheduled as needed.

Lifestyle and Health Coaching
Stuck in a rut? Can’t get on top of your diet, exercise, sleep, stress, or relationship challenges? A Health Coach can assist with all of that. Caroline Salamone is a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, who is eager to help you reach your personal goals by showing you how to stay accountable to your plan and learn how to establish and maintain healthy habits. 30 minute and hour long sessions available.

Lifting with Leonel
Intimidated by the weight room? We get it! Let Certified Personal Trainer, Leonel, guide you. He will instruct you on proper form, technique, and functional lifting movements. This training will take place in a small group setting of 2-5 people in the Queenax Room at our Puri Family YMCA.
