The YMCA of Rock River Valley is excited to announce a new and promising partnership that will strengthen the YMCA mission and broaden its impact. Effective December 1, 2025, the YMCA of Rock River Valley assumed management responsibilities for the Dixon Family YMCA in partnership with its Board of Directors.
This is the second management agreement the YMCA of Rock River Valley has entered into this year. The collaboration represents a strategic step toward greater sustainability, improved services, and broader community outreach.
“YMCAs across the country are realizing opportunities to partner,” said Brent Pentenburg, CEO, YMCA of Rock River Valley. “When YMCAs create efficiencies, members realize the benefits with expanded programs and services.”
The Dixon YMCA has deep roots in the community. It was founded in 1872, with its first location on the corner of Ottawa and East First Street. It has grown over the years and has been at its current location since 1971. After a recent change in leadership, the Dixon board of directors recognized an opportunity to collaborate with another YMCA.
“Our Board of Directors met with several area associations and found the YMCA of Rock River Valley to be a great fit,” said Ermir Ramadani, Dixon Family YMCA Board Chair. “This partnership brings fresh ideas and more resources to our community, so we can work on growing our membership and financial support.”
Both Ys will remain independent under the year-long management agreement. Pentenburg will be on-site, leading the Dixon team through the initial phases of the agreement. The YMCA of Rock River Valley will hire an executive director in the near future to lead the Dixon operations.
