Rowing (sometimes called crew) is a water sport in which a group of rowers (also called a crew) seated in a boat move their oars together in unison to complete the common goal of movement. There are two different kinds of rowing: sweep rowing, where each rower has one oar in both hands, and sculling, where each rower has two oars, one in each hand.

Rowing is both a physically challenging sport and a fun and unique experience. It offers crew members a great workout to start their days, as well as an extraordinary view of the city of Rockford and the natural world that twines through it.  Rowing is an especially great sport for teens and young adults as it hones responsibility, independent decision-making, leadership, and teamwork skills.
